We are holding our 14th Annual Banquet on Saturday, April 22, 2017, and we need you! Please help make our biggest fundraiser a success by lending a hand. It’s a great way to have fun with other animal-friendly folks and support a great cause.

Listed below are the volunteer positions that need to be filled. Please read through to see which positions appeal to you and then contact Dyne Stephenson at [email protected] or 612-276-2242 to sign up.

  • Food Purchasing  8 – 10:30am
    • 3 volunteers needed, including 2 with larger vehicles
    • Help to carry and transport the food that will be needed
  • Supply Transport  1:30 – 2:30pm
    • 3 volunteers needed, including 2 with larger vehicles
    • Transport materials from the CAA office to the Wellstone Center
  • Setup  2:30 – 5:30pm
    • 9 volunteers needed, including an experienced lead
    • Help set up the reception area and do most of the table setting
    • Setup includes putting up signage and decorations and preparing the food and drink stations in reception area
  • Registration Table  5:00 – 7:30pm
    • 2 volunteers needed
    • Greet attendees as they arrive, handle any outstanding ticket payments, and direct volunteers to their appropriate stations
  • Cooks  11:00am – 7:00pm
    • 8 volunteers needed
    • Prepare the banquet meal under direction of the head chef
  • Food Preparation  6:30 – 8:30pm (filled)
    • 11 volunteers needed, including an experienced lead
    • Prepare gourmet dinner food servings, prepare the salad, and ladle the soup
  • Table Servers*  6:15 – 9:00pm
    • 21 volunteers needed, including an experienced lead
    • Serve food and non-alcoholic beverages to attendees, clear plates as needed from tables, and serve dessert with coffee and tea
  • Reception Attendants*  5:15 – 7:00pm
    • 5 volunteers needed, including an experienced lead
    • Keep reception area organized and clean. Four volunteers will help with auction item purchases.
  • Kitchen Cleanup  6:00 – 8:30pm
    • 4 volunteers needed
    • Clean and store dishes used throughout the event.
  • Final Cleanup  8:30 – 11:00pm
    • Ten volunteers needed.
    • Clean and store dishes used throughout the event. Clear tables and pack up supplies.
  • Auction Purchase Assistants  8:30 – 10:00pm
    • Two volunteers needed
    • Tally the results from the silent auctions and help sell them.
  • Photographer  5:30 – 9:00pm
    • One volunteer needed.
    • Use your own professional camera to take photos that show the Annual Banquet to be a fun, lively event.

*The servers and the reception attendants will need to wear formal clothing for the evening. The dress code is a white or black button-down shirt and black slacks or a black skirt.

Leadership Roles

Leaders train and guide volunteers in the roles listed above. Leaders are expected to have some experience in their area. Leaders will assess the needs of the event and the needs and the skills of the volunteers. They will work closely with other leaders to ensure that we have an effective and efficient banquet. Leadership positions are as follows:

  • Table Servers, 5:15 – 9:00pm
  • Reception Food/Drink, 5:00 – 7:00pm
  • Setup, 2:15 – 5:00pm
  • Cleanup, 5:45 – 11:00pm

General Information for Volunteers

  • The Annual Banquet will be held at The Wellstone Center, 179 Robie Street East in St Paul.
  • Food will be provided for volunteers. Volunteers staying until 9:00pm are welcome to bring a container if you would like to take any leftover food.
  • Those volunteers interested in attending the event as a guest will have to purchase tickets at the regular price and will need to be sure that their attendance doesn’t conflict with their volunteer shift.
