Volunteer for animals from the comfort of your home! Start off the new year writing postcards to support pro-animal policies.

Here’s how it works

• Sign up here to write postcards.
• You can choose to have your postcard materials mailed to you or to pick up your postcard from the CAA Community Office.
• Each postcard is pre-printed with a message against Target’s purchasing of battery cage eggs.
• Add your personal touch by handwriting a heartfelt message and your signature on each postcard.
• Address and mail the postcards.
• All the materials you need will be provided in your packet. All postcards should be mailed by the end of March. (The deadline has been extended to March due to continuing interest in the program!) 

What’s in the postcard packet you receive

Each postcard packet contains one postcard for you to mail directly to Target to pressure them to stop purchasing battery cage eggs. The other postcards will be mailed to community members (CAA provides the addresses) and contain a request for the recipient to sign a petition asking Target to stop supporting battery cages.

What battery cages are

Battery cages are tiny cages where many farmers confine hens. In battery cages, hens do not even have enough room to spread their wings, let alone engage in natural behaviors like socializing, walking, perching, or nesting. According to the USDA, over half of all U.S. hens on egg farms are currently kept in this misery. While hens in cage-free systems still suffer and are ultimately killed, studies show that hens confined in battery cages experience particularly intense misery.

Time commitment

Each postcard takes around a minute to complete. You can make a significant impact in just a short amount of time! With this project, you can fit volunteering into your schedule; write when and where works best for you.
