We want to do our best to help the animals who are suffering on factory farms and killed in slaughterhouses. But how many ways are there to define what our best is? How “strict” do we need to be with our vegan lifestyle? What approach will be most sustainable for ourselves and also have the biggest impact for the animals? Is this really a one-size-fits-all situation?
These questions loom for many of us involved in the animal protection movement. Sometimes there are subtle pressures to be “more vegan” (whatever that may mean), and sometimes we encounter very direct criticism for our everyday choices — that we are not being “vegan enough.” But what does it mean to be vegan? How can we truly do the most good and the least harm? What’s possible?
For our next edition of Tea, Cookies, & Conversation, we’ll be coming together as a community to openly discuss this somewhat controversial topic. With mutual respect (and a sense of humor!), we’ll share our experiences, thoughts, and concerns. The discussion will be moderated by AmyLeo Barankovich of Claim Humane and Justin Leaf, Communications & Events Coordinator for CAA.
Vegan cookies and tea will be provided. If you’d like to bake a batch of vegan cookies for the event, email Justin at [email protected].
We’ll be meeting in the multi-purpose room at the Powderhorn Park Community Center.
RSVP on the Facebook event page or email Justin at [email protected].
