Our 20th Annual Vegan ThanksLiving Potluck attracted over 100 people to celebrate! It was our first in-person ThanksLiving in three years. We held it at the St. Paul Student Center at the University of Minnesota. The large space ensured that there was plenty of room for all who were interested!
We called the event ThanksLiving to help us remember why our community gathers to celebrate. Read more about our choice of ThanksLiving here.
The ThanksLiving potluck was an opportunity to enjoy an abundant array of delicious vegan food alongside members of our thriving compassionate community. Everyone really stepped up to share special foods for the holiday. We’ve got plenty of reasons to be grateful!
Many thanks to The Herbivorous Butcher for their generous donations of vegan turkeys and gluten-free meatloaf. Thanks also to those who donated for our bingo card prizes. Suzy Sorensen donated a cookbook and Stalk and Spade provided a gift card. These prizes were randomly awarded to those who completed People Bingo cards. Participants could get bingo slots marked off by talking to their neighbors. There were items to check off like “they’re at their first ThanksLiving. ” Our lucky winners were David for the cookbook and Emmett for the gift card.
The best prize of all was making new like-minded friends while eating yummy food. All while contemplating the real meaning of Thanksgiving—which has nothing to do with eating a sentient being. We are establishing new patterns for thankfulness and celebration.
