We’re pleased to announce the winner of the 2021 Kenny Feldman Animal Advocate Award. We’ve created this award to recognize a person, organization, or business in our community whose amazing work is pushing the ball forward for animals. This year we’re giving the award to Terrell Woods, aka Carnage The Executioner.
Terrell, better known by his stage name Carnage The Executioner, is a Twin Cities-based hip-hop artist, beat boxer, emcee, producer, and more. He also founded the Plant-Based Poets. His unique blend of “instruction and entertainment” delivers powerful messages about plant-based eating and living.
Carnage The Executioner has spent almost 30 years making music, performing live as a one-man band, touring the world and educating both youth and adults from various socio-economic backgrounds. In 2017, Carnage started a movement called Plant-Based Poets. This came about after his decision to begin eating a vegan diet, while living a lifestyle that shows empathy for animals and bettering the planet.
Carnage possesses a knack for producing intense, thought-provoking music and establishing strong, healthy relationships. Carnage’s specialties include teaching human beatboxing and song-writing, in addition to fostering personal and artistic growth. His minimal-rest work ethic has helped him build an impressive artist resume that extends all the way to Europe and Asia.
Carnage takes pride in helping all people define their own voices. He stands firm in his support and practice of positive self-expression and nurturing leadership skills building, while speaking in favor of social justice. Carnage emits heart-warming, down-to-earth energy when speaking on his experiences around living in poverty and surviving physical, emotional and sexual abuse. Growing up in the foster care system as a youth has given Carnage the confidence to share his stories of personal failure and achievement.
Carnage speaks about his struggles with maintaining a healthy weight and engaging in overconsumption on all levels—from eating too much, to fighting for all the attention he can get—on his 2019 album, “Ravenous.” After gaining a clearer mind and losing 120 pounds, Carnage is a model of how removing animal products from the diet can make one a better version of themselves. The Plant-Based Poets movement boasts a goal of uniting all lovers of music, as well as people who encourage freedom for all living beings who depend on the health of Earth’s roots for survival.
